Commissioners appoint Doc Sutherland as non‑voting school advisor to redevelopment corporation

Commissioners appointed Doc Sutherland as the non‑voting school corporation advisor to the county redevelopment corporation, following letters from both North Vermillion and South Vermillion school boards unanimously selecting him.

A county official presented references to the applicable legislative code regarding permission for non‑voting advisors created when the redevelopment corporation was formed in 2018 and said previous attempts to secure a school representative had been unsuccessful. The board moved, seconded and approved the appointment by voice vote.

The appointment was presented as a formal board action; no further conditions or terms were discussed publicly at the meeting.
