Contractor to propose fix for Rainbow Lane corner after safety inspection; board awaits update

Board members updated one another on a safety concern at a corner on Rainbow Lane and said the contractor who built the site inspected it and agreed a safety issue exists. Renee Rafla, director of public works, said she had last spoken with Street Director Jim Hennigan, who was working on a plan to address the corner but staff had not received a recent update. Rafla said she had been on vacation and had not heard back since her last conversation with Hennigan. Ron (Rob) Schleifer said the contractor has visited the site and “along with everybody else, agrees that there's a safety issue,” and that the contractor planned to report back to his organization about potential fixes. Board members said the contractor indicated willingness to perform limited warranty work to resolve the problem. Board President Brad Klopfenstein said he would check with Street Director Hennigan to confirm whether the contractor had responded and to collect any new information, and the board agreed staff would follow up and report back to the board. No vote or formal action was taken; the discussion produced direction for staff to contact Hennigan and update the board when the contractor provides a proposed remedy.
