Commissioners approve vote centers and satellite locations for county elections

Vermillion County commissioners approved a resolution adopting vote centers and satellite voting locations for upcoming elections, the county clerk’s office reported.
Clerk Tammy Lowry (not present) provided a packet and public hearings were held; meeting materials recommended moving to a vote‑center model that allows registered voters to cast a ballot at any center in the county. Approved vote centers include Highland American Legion (Perrysville), Cayuga American Legion (Cayuga), Dana Firehouse (Dana), Clinton Firehouse and Fairview Town Hall (Clinton), Newport Lions Club (Newport), and Wayside Church (Clinton).
Satellite voting will be offered on two Saturdays at the courthouse in Newport, the Clinton Public Library, and Highland American Legion in Perrysville. County staff said data from other jurisdictions indicate vote centers can increase turnout and simplify access for voters who are away from their home precincts on Election Day.
Commissioners voted to approve resolution 2025‑7 by voice vote; the resolution will be implemented by the clerk’s office and election board.
