Vermillion County commissioners voted to switch the county’s health‑insurance broker to EPIC Insurance of Terre Haute after a recommendation from the county Health Insurance Committee.
James Twitchell of EPIC presented to the commissioners and said EPIC will keep existing carrier relationships, including Anthem, and will match the commission rates previously paid to USI. Twitchell said EPIC maintains local staff with experience in Medicare‑related service and expects to provide local, in‑person support.
Commissioners and committee members said the change will not alter employee coverages—medical, dental, vision and disability will remain with the same carriers—and that there will be no change to the county’s fee structure. The board approved the change by voice vote; a motion to switch to EPIC carried without a recorded roll‑call tally.
Commission President R.J. Donovan thanked Twitchell and said the county looks forward to local support. The transition requires submission of broker‑of‑record letters to carriers and may take two to three weeks to process, Twitchell said.
