County rejects 2025 highway fuel and lubricant bids after procurement irregularities; existing vendor will continue service temporarily

The Board of Commissioners on July 15 approved a recommendation from the Department of Infrastructure, Planning and Growth (IPG) to reject all bids received for the 2025 annual highway materials contract covering fuel, oil, lubricants and miscellaneous materials.
Skye Meaders of IPG told the board that six bids were submitted but none met the requirements in the bidding documents — either because required information was missing or because submissions were not in the required format. Meaders recommended rejecting the bids and rebidding the procurement at a later date. IPG staff said they had discussed continuity with the existing fuel vendor, which agreed to continue providing service while the county rebids the contract.
Commissioners approved the rejection on a unanimous voice vote. Meaders and commissioners said staff would rebid the contract and continue working with the incumbent vendor in the interim to avoid service interruptions for county vehicles and highway operations.
