During public comment at the July 1 meeting, Dan Caruso of New Carlisle urged county officials, the regional chamber and planning staff to oppose future rezoning of agricultural land in New Carlisle and Olive Township to industrial uses.
Caruso said rezoning in those areas has contributed to regional economic development but asked the county to seek growth opportunities elsewhere and to "please oppose any future attempts to rezone agricultural land to industrial in New Carlisle and Olive Township." He asked commissioners to "just say no" to more industrial rezoning in those communities.
His remarks were made in the public-comment portion of the meeting; no formal county action on rezoning occurred at the meeting.
