Commissioners approve routine procurement items, table painting contract for clarification

The St. Joseph County Board of Commissioners on June 3 approved several routine procurement items and tabled one contract pending clarification.
The board authorized staff to advertise requests for bids for the county’s annual highway materials, a routine yearly procurement that covers items such as patching material, fuel, lubricants, aggregates and traffic paint. Department staff said the advertisement will run next two Fridays and bids will open in three weeks.
The board approved a one‑time cleaning contract for the Archives and Records Center with Overtime Commercial Cleaning LLC for $604.05. Katrina Carter, archives and records center staff, said the building cleaning has not been performed in two years and that the cost will be covered from her building maintenance budget. Carter said, “It hasn't been done in 2 years, so, I would like to get it done this year if possible.”
The board also approved two recorder Laredo agreements — one with Y Engineers Incorporated and another with Joseph Legacy Planning — that county staff said allow external parties to access records. Commissioners approved both agreements by unanimous vote.
Earlier in the meeting the board ratification of a contract with Aaron Patterson for painting services in the assessor’s office was tabled so staff could clarify contract aspects; a motion to table carried unanimously. No further action on that contract was taken at the June 3 meeting.
