County staff read aloud two bids for the R&S 92502‑S resurfacing rehabilitation project during the June 3 St. Joseph County Board of Commissioners meeting and the board voted to forward the bids to the highway department and engineering staff for review and potential award.
A county representative identified as Skye, from the Department of Infrastructure Planning and Growth, said the office had received two bids: Milestone Contractors, South Bend, submitted a bid of $1,136,000, and Ruth Riley Construction Company, South Bend, submitted a bid of $1,211,095.17. Skye recommended the bids be accepted for review and turned over to engineering.
The board moved and seconded the recommendation to send the bids to the highway department for review. Commissioner Morton, Commissioner Hazen and Commissioner Maxmeier each voted “aye.” The motion carried.
Staff said the county will review the bids for responsiveness and qualifications and that engineering may return with an award recommendation after review.
