Council approves 2025 appointments to boards, commissions and committees

The Columbus City Council unanimously approved a slate of council-member appointments to city boards, commissions and committees for 2025 during its Jan. 7 meeting.
City staff read the proposed appointments aloud. The slate assigns council members to a range of advisory and voting boards for one-year terms, and includes the following highlights as read into the record by staff: Al Rosczyk and Shannon McDonald to the Columbus Redevelopment Commission; Lori Rowan and Brian Walsh to the Insurance Review Committee; Katie Ricks to the Parking Commission; Council Members Chris Bartels, Elaine Hilbert, Jake Boyst and Tom Bell named to the Capital Improvements Committee; Tom Bell to the City Energy Committee; Josh Burnett to the Commons Board (term noted through 2020 in the staff listing and discussed as continuing through 2027 for the remainder of an existing term); Frank Miller to Nexus Park Community Development Board and Solid Waste Management District Board; and Grace Kessler to the Mayor’s Public Art Committee, among other appointments.
Council members moved and seconded the slate and approved it by voice vote. The chair recorded the motion as approved by a 9-0 vote.
City staff clarified during the presentation that the appointments are council-member assignments (voting status) and generally are one-year appointments; staff also said that Josh Burnett will complete the remainder of a four-year term through 2027 for the vacancy noted in the staff materials.
The appointments take effect immediately and set council representation for the city’s boards and advisory bodies through 2025 unless otherwise specified by the individual board’s rules.
