Jericho Road, a Redmond nonprofit that provides weekend food bags to students, updated the Redmond School District 2J board on the status of its program and volunteer operations.
Don Cinecao, representing Jericho Road, told the board the nonprofit partners with district family advocates and the high school leadership program to assemble and distribute bags identified by school staff. “Each week, we take the food to Redmond High School… and we average about 60 bags a week,” Cinecao said. He reported that since October 1 the program has distributed 1,582 bags and that volunteers try to include shelf‑stable nutrition items and occasionally special requests from school nurses.
Cinecao described program logistics: schools provide anonymous counts of students in need, volunteers pack the bags — often with the help of student leadership classes — and volunteers deliver them to schools. He also said Jericho Road supplies snacks for nursing offices and protein bars for athletic locker rooms several times a year.
Board members thanked the volunteers and staff who assist with coordination. The presentation was informational; the board did not take formal action.
