County staff updated commissioners on construction and final punch‑list items for the new EMS station during the July 2 study session.
Staff said crews have been working at the facility and that only a few remaining contractor items — such as an ice maker and speaker installation — remain. Because speakers had not been received, the EMS operation has used portables inside the facility temporarily; staff said the portables were functioning as needed.
“We’ve been in it, I believe, since Thursday,” a county staff member said, noting that most remaining items were nominal. Staff and the contractor had exchanged correspondence that morning about the remaining punch‑list work. County staff said they expect to be largely complete soon and proposed an open house and public event in the next four to six weeks; previous county station openings have included community safety demonstrations and a small cookout.
Staff also said they would reach out to prior cleanup participants (the Abernathys referenced in the discussion) to coordinate final landscaping and mowing schedules around the new station.
No formal action was taken; staff will return with a proposed open‑house date and final closeout information when contractor items are finished.
