Miami County commissioners authorized staff to solicit design services for project 2502SB704, the replacement of Bridge 9 G1 east of Plum Creek. Project manager Matt Oler told the commission the preliminary engineering estimate for survey, geotechnical work and design is about $50,000; two right-of-way parcels would cost about $5,000 (approximately $2,500 each). Oler presented a worst-case full bridge replacement estimate of about $473,000 plus 10% construction engineering ($47,300), yielding a total project figure of $575,300. He said the county's preferred option is a low-water crossing using roughly six 10-foot-diameter tubes, concrete headers and flowable fill, with an estimated cost of $200,000 to $225,000 if permitted. Oler also said if the low-water option cannot be permitted he will return to the commission with other options. Commissioner Vaughn moved to authorize solicitation; Commissioner Dideker seconded. The motion passed unanimously.
