The Miami County Board of Commissioners unanimously authorized county staff to solicit price proposals for risk management services, including property and casualty coverage and workers' compensation.
Lucas Mellinger, assistant county administrator, told the board staff are finalizing qualification criteria and planned to release the solicitation by Friday morning if authorized. “If you guys approve this, we'll get it out and sent out by Friday morning,” Mellinger said.
Commissioner Vaughn moved to approve the authorization; Commissioner Vickrey seconded. The motion passed on a unanimous voice vote. No additional funding or vendor selection occurred at the meeting; the vote authorized staff to begin a competitive procurement process.
Mellinger said the packet did not include a draft solicitation because qualifications were still under development at the time of the meeting. The authorization directs staff to proceed with issuing the request for proposals and returning to the board for vendor selection and any contract approvals.
