Board to review lap‑pool site options Monday as staff readies soil reports and phasing plans for phase‑1 aquatic center

PUEBLO WEST, Colo. — District staff said Friday they will present detailed site options, soil studies and phasing plans for a phase‑1 lap pool as part of the aquatic‑center planning discussion at the next board meeting.

Parks staff said they will upload photos, soils reports and comparisons of the candidate sites to the packet and that a planning consultant (Sean) will be present Monday to answer technical questions on soils and site work. Directors requested an overview map of Pueblo West with each candidate site marked so the board and public can compare locations and expansion potential.

Board members asked staff to confirm that phase‑1 will be a lap lane pool with a metal building to house locker rooms and support facilities, and to consider future expansion (family/recreation pool) and adjacent commercial opportunities such as food vendors and other amenities to support operations. Staff confirmed phase‑1 is a lap‑pool, that the building plan is simple steel construction with necessary support spaces, and that candidate sites will be evaluated for future expansion capacity and parking requirements.

Staff also said a parallel effort is underway to assess the existing pool facility (recent line scoping and repairs) and that a full report on current pool condition will be provided as soon as available.
