PUEBLO WEST, Colo. — District staff told the board on Friday that the board previously gave informal consensus to pursue a vacation of Tract 317, a contiguous county‑owned parcel that had been rezoned to community facilities and contains rights of way that have become conduits for illegal vehicle access and dumping.
Staff said they are preparing a formal petition and vacation maps to file with Pueblo County and requested the board’s formal resolution and signature to proceed with the application. Staff added that the parcel is identified in the district’s parks master plan as potential future park/open space, and vacating the rights of way would let the district more easily close unauthorized vehicle entrances and enable enforcement.
Board members asked for a site map and said they would bring a formal resolution to the public meeting; staff said they will include a vicinity map and that the county indicated potential interim options but no firm trenching or barrier work has been reported yet. Staff noted cul‑de‑sac construction and other access improvements may carry costs and that the district will coordinate with Pueblo County and sheriff’s office enforcement.
