The applicant and property owner, Fabiola Chavez, addressed the council and said, “I am requesting to get a secondary living unit for my mother. My father recently passed away... This way, she won't have to be put in a nursing home.”
After no additional speakers registered, the council moved, seconded and approved the permit. The motion was made by Council Member Gonzales and seconded by Council Member Pham. Staff noted the proposed unit complies with UDC regulations for secondary living units and that the permit is tied to family occupancy rather than a rental use.
