Play Frisco earns NRPA award for Blackland Prairie restoration; lists June events

Cecilia Hsu, assistant director with Play Frisco, told council Play Frisco’s natural resources division received the 2025 Innovation and Environmental Resilience Award from the National Recreation and Park Association in recognition of its Blackland Prairie restoration work. The program combines restoration, education and cultural connection to preserve the endangered Blackland Prairie ecosystem within the city.
Hsu announced Natural Resources Day on June 12 at Frisco Commons Park, Cycle the City on June 14 (Tejas Trail), and live‑music events June 21 (including Music in the Chamber). She also described a mural being completed by North Texas artist Lehi de Jesus on the south wall of the Frisco Discovery Center, selected by the Arts & Culture Advisory Board. Hsu invited residents to provide feedback on Lexington Park at a virtual meeting and said the full activity schedule is on the city website.
No council action was requested; the presentation served as a community programming update.
