Township tax assessor projects full debt‑service collection for 2025–26

Montgomery County tax assessor‑collector Tammy McCray certified an anticipated debt‑service collection rate of 100% for The Woodlands Township’s 2025–26 debt service, the board was informed July 17.
Staff explained that the certification is an annual housekeeping step under the property tax code: it informs the board’s debt‑service budgeting by estimating what percentage of the levy the assessor expects to collect. Staff noted last year’s collection rate was 99.54 percent and that the county collected $160 more than estimated; that overage will slightly reduce next year’s levy. The board voted to accept the anticipated collection rate and the certified 2024 excess debt service tax collection report.
Staff characterized the update as routine and said the township has a strong overall collection record.
