FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. — The Fayetteville City Council on July 1 adopted a consent agenda that included multiple purchases, contract amendments and budget adjustments.

Notable items in the consent list approved by council included:

- A resolution to increase the street-marking budget and approve repaving College Avenue from Dickson Street to North Street; the city said the street-marking budget would increase by $951,000 to support the project.

- Award of bid No. 25-39 and authorization to purchase bulk crushed rock salt from Hutchinson Salt Company at $40.50 per ton for materials picked up and $86.29 per ton for materials delivered, with authorization to use other bidders based on price and availability.

- Waiver of competitive bidding and approval to purchase two ozone-destruction units from Oxidation Technologies LLC for the Nolan Water Resource Recovery Facility for $44,240 plus sales and freight.

- Approval of Amendment No. 3 to an engineering-services contract in the amount of $46,620 for design and construction services associated with recycling and trash facility improvements.

- Authorization to apply for a Staffing for Adequate Fire and Emergency Response (SAFER) grant in the amount of $450,000 to hire three full-time firefighters.

Council approved the entire consent agenda by roll call with no questions recorded on the floor.

Why it matters: The items authorize capital and operational expenditures and set procurement terms for near-term public works, utilities and public-safety staffing. The SAFER grant application could add three firefighters if awarded and locally matched as required by the grant rules.
