Board approves interment fee increases following council ordinance update

The Board of Works approved interment fee increases that follow an ordinance the city council adopted to update municipal code for city cemeteries, staff said. "At the last city council meeting, the city council approved an ordinance to update our municipal code on city cemeteries... the council increased the grave cost, to $900 for the standard and $500 for the cremation," a staff member said during the Board of Works meeting while presenting the item and a recommending memo. Staff said the updated fees reflect rates last changed in 2006 and that the new fees still place the city's cemetery charges at or below many nearby cemeteries. The board approved the interment fee change by voice vote on staff recommendation.
