The Board of Works approved city administrative action to set updated cemetery fees consistent with a City Council ordinance that revised the municipal code on cemeteries.
Clerk/Administrative staff explained the city’s last fee update dated to 2006 and that the council increased grave costs to $900 for a standard plot and $500 for cremation interments. "The council increased the grave cost, to $905,100, 900 for the standard and 500 for the cremation," staff said (note: staff’s memo reflected the intended amounts of $900 and $500). The Board approved the administrative action to implement the revised fees following the council ordinance.
Staff said the new rates keep the city's cemetery fees lower than several nearby cemeteries but more competitive than others based on a comparison the office conducted.
The board voted to adopt the updated interment and plot fees to align with the council’s ordinance.
