The Webster County Board of Supervisors voted Tuesday, July 15, 2025, to approve the purchase of a motor grader from Ziegler CAT for a net cost of $380,007.97, Webster County Engineer Jamie Joel said. The board approved the purchase during its regular meeting after a motion and second; the motion carried.
The purchase price before trade-in was $454,297, Joel said. The county will trade in a 2006 Caterpillar for $73,500, producing the net cost stated to the board. Joel told supervisors the expected delivery window for the new grader is three to six months.
The board recorded no further discussion before the vote. No ordinance, resolution or other legal authority was cited during the discussion; the item proceeded as a routine equipment purchase under the county’s purchasing procedures.
The purchase was discussed as part of the consent/regular business portion of the meeting; members gave unanimous verbal assent when asked to vote on the item. The county engineer and the chair confirmed the delivery estimate and the trade-in amount during the meeting.
