Brook Park City Council on Tuesday adopted a resolution urging the federal government to consider relocating the National Aeronautics and Space Administration’s headquarters to Brook Park, a move council members said would build on the region’s aerospace assets.

The resolution, introduced by Mayor Orcutt and the Council of the Whole, notes the presence of the NASA Glenn Research Center in Brook Park and argues the region’s transportation infrastructure, manufacturing workforce and central U.S. location make Northeast Ohio a competitive site. The resolution also said Ohio’s congressional delegation and the governor have advanced similar positions.

Mayor Orcutt told council the measure was intended to support broader state and regional efforts. “This is something that’s real,” he said, noting local advocates in Congress and the governor’s office are pursuing the opportunity. He also cited recent growth at NASA Glenn, saying the center’s employee count has increased in recent months.

Council voted to adopt the resolution under suspension of the rules. The council’s whereas clauses listed reasons for the request, including Ohio’s aerospace history, the presence of multiple aerospace research facilities in the state and Brook Park’s logistical advantages.

The resolution is advisory: it expresses the city’s support and asks federal leaders to consider Brook Park if and when a headquarters relocation is pursued. Council members said the resolution aligns Brook Park with statewide advocacy but does not in itself commit city funds or land.
