MERRIMACK COUNTY — The Merrimack County Board of Commissioners handled a series of operational votes at its meeting, approving routine and administrative items ranging from contracts to personnel reimbursements.
Key outcomes:
- Consent agenda: Approved (motion moved and seconded; vote recorded as carried).
- Prosecution services: Approved a 10% increase in fees charged to 18 towns for misdemeanor prosecution services (see separate article for discussion and background).
- Security/card-key contract: Approved a sole-source contract to install an electronic card-key system at county offices on Court Street, with an estimated cost of $12,950.73. The system will control external public access doors, interior vestibule doors and elevator call access; maintenance/storage keys will remain mechanical.
- Employee education reimbursement: Approved reimbursement under the county education reimbursement policy for a full-time LPN at the county nursing home pursuing an RN degree (Anatomy II course reimbursement approved).
- U.S. Marshals housing and officer rate: Approved moving forward on negotiated rate changes that would increase the per-diem housing rate for U.S. Marshals inmates from $110 to $125 and the officer overtime rate from $38 to $40 per hour, expected to be effective Aug. 1; county staff estimate roughly $170,000 additional revenue for the year if implemented.
- Nonpublic session: The board voted to enter nonpublic session under RSA 91-A:3, II for personnel and property matters.
Motions were moved and seconded for each item. Votes were taken by voice/roll call; where tallies were announced they were recorded in the minutes. The board directed staff to proceed with contract execution and to continue follow-up reporting where appropriate.
