The Molalla River School District Board of Directors on July 24 approved a sole-source contract to continue using Plimatech (referred to in packet materials as Climate Tech/Plimatech) as the district’s HVAC controls contractor.

District staff told the board the district has been using Plimatech’s systems to install HVAC controls that can be managed remotely and that campus staff already monitor those systems during inclement weather. Staff said using a single vendor across multiple projects provides administrative efficiencies and is consistent with the district’s public procurement rules for sole-source selections in cases where compatibility and continuity are primary considerations.

A board member asked whether members had reviewed the packet pages that described the selection; there was no substantive public debate recorded. A motion to approve the selection of Plimatech as the HVAC controls contractor was moved and seconded and the board approved the motion on roll call.

The district will proceed with planned HVAC upgrades using the selected contractor, and staff said the sole-source approach will avoid reopening competitive procurement for systems already deployed in district buildings.
