The City Council voted 4-1 to adopt a large‑scale comprehensive plan amendment for the project called Edgewater West, reassigning approximately 13.78 acres from county mixed‑use to a city mixed‑use future‑land‑use designation.
Melissa Dunklin, director of community development, said the petition was transmitted for expedited interagency review under Chapter 163 of Florida Statutes and staff received no state agency comments. Staff and the Planning Commission recommended approval. Council Member Urban moved for adoption and Council Member Fletcher seconded; the roll call recorded votes of Aye from Council Members Fletcher, Paul, Urban and Mayor Robertson, and a Nay from Deputy Mayor Gilbert. The motion carried 4-1.
The change makes the site subject to the city’s land‑use designation and removes it from county mixed‑use classification; staff said the request is compatible with surrounding uses and that no adverse city facility impacts are expected. No additional conditions were imposed at the adoption hearing.
