Ken, parks staff, told the County Property Committee on July 25 that he will draft updated rules and regulations for deer hunting on county property and forward the proposed changes to staff and the committee for review.
Why it matters: committee members said county hunting rules have not been updated for several years and that aligning local rules with state changes would reduce confusion and administrative mismatches.
Ken said the county has not updated its rules for five to six years and that the state rules change almost annually. "I'm gonna work on this next week. I'm gonna work on, some of the rules and regulations to bring them closer to what the state has to be more similar," Ken said. He told the committee he would prepare recommendations and send them to Amanda and bring them to the committee for consideration.
Discussion and next steps: a committee member asked whether the recommendations would be presented to this committee; Ken said yes and that he will forward the draft rules for review before the next meeting. No formal vote was taken.
