The superintendent asked the board to approve two staffing items for the district’s Rise Up alternative program: (1) permission to post a part‑time CTE instructor to deliver a weekly career‑exploration program at Rise Up, and (2) a new Rise Up secretary job description to support intake, transitions and program paperwork. The board approved both items.
The part‑time CTE posting would be for five hours per week of work: four hours of instruction (two hours for middle school and two hours for high school) plus one hour of planning time. The superintendent said the pay rate would be the district’s contracted rate of $33 per hour, which the district estimated at under $6,000 annually for the position. "It would give us an opportunity to bring CTE to the Rise Up and...so we'd like to post a part time CTE teaching position," the superintendent said.
District leaders also presented a 200‑day, eight‑hours‑per‑day job description for the Rise Up secretary to handle intake meetings, transition paperwork and day‑to‑day secretarial duties; the superintendent said the position would cover additional pre‑ and post‑school days (10 before and 10 after the school year) to manage program requirements. The board approved the job description and the superintendent said the position is expected to be filled by an identified candidate (Miss Baker) and will be ratified as part of routine personnel actions.
Both items were approved by the board without further amendment. Staff indicated they will post the part‑time CTE job and complete the hiring process, and that they will bring any required personnel ratifications to the next board meeting.
