The Hopkinton School Committee on July 24 approved Amendment No. 6 to Perkins Eastman, authorizing an additional $69,300 for design, permitting and construction administration tied to the Loop Road at the Hopkins renovation project.
Project manager Carly Spinks summarized the work Perkins Eastman has completed: survey work, upcoming asphalt core testing, and early-phase design. Spinks said the $69,300 request is an allowance to cover additional permitting and construction-administration costs that consultants identified after navigating the town Conservation Commission process. She said the number is a budget allowance that “could ultimately decrease” if less work is required and that a separate additional fee of about $33,000 would be required only if additional stormwater management work is mandated during planning-board or Conservation Commission review.
Mr. Everly (project representative on Zoom) and Spinks also provided a construction update. They reported one minor worker injury during site prep; the injured worker required hospital care and, according to the contractor contact, is doing better. Spinks said the project remains on budget overall and that the team expects to turnover renovated spaces for staff use on Aug. 19. She reported one approved change order in July for $257,000, primarily rental costs for a temporary kitchen.
A motion to approve Amendment No. 6 for $69,300 and to authorize Susan Rothermick to approve final proposals passed by voice vote.
