The Committee on Parole denied parole for Carson Green (DOC 513301) on June 24, 2025, after hearing testimony from the applicant and several family members of the victim who opposed release.
Green said he is remorseful for the killing that led to his conviction and described classes and programs he has taken in custody, including anger-management and substance-abuse programs. The board heard from members of the victim’s family, who urged denial and described long-term harms to their relatives. "You took somebody to life," victim family member Amelia Robertson told the panel, urging the board to keep Green incarcerated.
The board noted that Green’s murder charge had been reduced from first-degree murder to manslaughter as part of a plea and that he has not completed required prerelease programming that would support reentry. Members cited the plea reduction and strong prosecutorial and law-enforcement opposition as bases to deny release. The board recorded a unanimous vote to deny parole and advised Green on programming needed before he could again be considered.
The committee closed the hearing after recording the denial and instructing staff to document the decision; Green was advised of the decision and of steps he can take to strengthen any future parole request.
