Tony Stewart, a first-class offender serving a sentence for molestation of a juvenile, was denied parole by the Louisiana Committee on Parole on June 26, 2025.
Ms. LeJeune reviewed Stewart's sentence and parole eligibility; Stewart told the panel he had not completed sex-offender treatment or other prerelease programming. Panel member Mr. Freeman said, "the biggest problem we got here is that there's no *** offender treatment plan," and voted to deny. Other panel members concurred and cited the age of the victims and the absence of required treatment as the basis for denial.
The panel recorded opposition from the district attorney, the attorney general, and law enforcement, and noted that Stewart's sister was unopposed. Panelists encouraged Stewart to seek placement where he could access required treatment; the panel indicated that if Stewart completes sex-offender treatment and related programming, he may be reconsidered at a later hearing.
The board's action was a denial of parole, not an imposition of additional custody time beyond existing sentence dates; Stewart's full-term date remains April 2, 2030 (as recorded in the hearing notes).
