The Village Board authorized a cost consultant engagement not to exceed $3,000 with Rookert (listed in meeting materials) to prepare an opinion of probable cost for two renovation options for the fire department campus.
Trustees reviewed proposals from MKA International and Rookert; MKA had quoted a larger fee (roughly $99,500 for broader services as presented) while Rookert offered an opinion-of-cost estimate that staff said could be performed for a lower amount. Trustees discussed scope differences and agreed to authorize Rookert to provide cost estimates for the two plan options (called B and C in board materials) for a not-to-exceed amount of $3,000 so the village can proceed to a design phase.
Trustees emphasized that some items in the larger MKA proposal (meetings and additional services) could be excluded from the immediate scope; the board said the village's engineering and design consultants (Fisher & Fisher and village engineer Greg) would continue other portions of the project. The motion passed unanimously.
Staff said Rookert would perform a site visit, review the existing concept drawings, and provide cost opinions to support the village's decision whether to advance to detailed design and bidding.
