The Board of Public Works and Safety on Wednesday accepted two performance bonds for Willow Stage 3 and approved release of a maintenance bond for Franciscan Hospital after staff determined project work was complete.
Doug Wright told the board the city was being asked to accept two performance bonds for Willow Stage 3: $85,439.13 for infrastructure and $76,180.30 for HMA surfacing, for a combined total of $161,619.43. The board approved accepting both bonds together.
Wright also asked the board to release Franciscan Hospital's maintenance bond in the amount of $399,303. Staff reported all items had been completed, but noted a sidewalk segment on the hospital campus remains unfinished because work ties into the Barbara White Cancer Center construction. Wright said the hospital provided a letter of commitment that the sidewalk will be completed when the cancer center work is finished. Legal staff said they were comfortable with the release given the commitment, and the board voted to release the bond.
The board recorded unanimous approval for both actions and directed staff to maintain communication with the hospital and contractors regarding the outstanding sidewalk work and the future finish schedule for the cancer center campus.
