The Board of Public Works and Safety voted Wednesday, July 23 to issue a notice to proceed and execute a contract with Sealy Construction for demolition at 1115 East Joliet Street.
Alex, the city’s legal counsel, told the board his office reviewed the low bid and the prepared contract and found everything in order. “We would recommend, the board issue a notice to proceed and execute the contract for the demolition of that, improvement on that real estate,” Alex said.
Following a motion and second, the board approved the contract by voice vote.
Why it matters: the demolition clears a city-owned parcel (1115 East Joliet Street) so the city can proceed with planned redevelopment or remediation steps; the contract approval starts the contractor’s work under city direction.
Ending: No further discussion was recorded; the board moved on to other agenda items.
