Council renews Rotary Club facility-use agreement for Rotary Park

The Wenatchee City Council approved a renewal of a long-standing facility-use agreement allowing the Wenatchee Rotary Club six complimentary shelter reservations per year at Rotary Park in recognition of the organization’s historical contributions to the park.
The Wenatchee City Council unanimously approved on July 24 a renewal of the facility use agreement that gives the Wenatchee Rotary Club complimentary use of picnic shelters at Rotary Park for up to six Rotary functions per year.
Parks and Recreation Director Dave Erickson told the council the park was developed in partnership with local Rotary clubs beginning in 2003, with Rotary volunteers constructing playground elements, picnic shelters and contributing to parking and the Peace Plaza. Because of that long-term participation, the city established a facility-use agreement in 2009 that allowed the club complimentary reserved use for six events annually. The current action was a renewal of that contract; staff and the Arts, Recreation and Parks Commission recommended approval.
Erickson said the renewal contains no substantive program changes beyond updated department names and signatures. Council Member Hornby moved to approve the renewal and authorize the Parks, Recreation and Cultural Services director to sign; Council Member Atkinson seconded. The motion carried unanimously.
The council did not change the underlying park operations or fee schedule; the agreement formalizes a longstanding practice recognizing Rotary’s contributions and keeps six annual reserved uses at no charge for the Rotary Club.
