Bibb County school board approves multiple hires, reassignments for 2025–26 school year

The Bibb County Board of Education approved multiple personnel actions for the 2025–26 school year, including teacher hires, part-time interventionists and several reassignments. The superintendent presented the recommended slate of hires and reassignments and the board approved them by voice vote. Approvals included new teacher appointments at Woodstock Elementary School (Rebecca Mitchell), Brent Elementary School (Jeremiah Todd), and Woodstock Elementary (Ryan Sanders as physical education), as well as other classroom and support hires for the coming school year. The board also approved part-time reading and math interventionists at Brent Elementary (Emily Blake, Karen Foster, Connie Owens, Jenny Hobson, Melissa Dearman) and Centerville Middle School (Amanda Watkins), and part-time instructional paraprofessionals at Brent Elementary (Brandy Hobson, Barbara Dodson). The superintendent said intervention and tutoring services at Randolph Elementary School will be paid $25 per hour, up to 39 hours per week, with Title I funds covering the cost. In an information item, the superintendent announced reassignments recommended by local principals for 2025–26: at Woodstock Elementary School, Jennifer Greathouse will move from pre-K to first grade and Rebecca Mitchell from first grade to pre-K; at Brent Elementary School, Catherine Dunstan will move from fourth grade to special education. During superintendent remarks, the superintendent said, “We’re thankful for grants we’ve received to help out, paying for units,” and noted hope that federal funds still held by other agencies would be released to the district. There was no separate, substantive debate recorded on the personnel approvals beyond routine motions and seconding of items. Board members present were recorded as Cheryl Dodson, Mike McMillan and Morris Moody; board member Jones was absent. These personnel actions will take effect for the 2025–26 school year unless otherwise noted in individual employment notices.
