The recorder (identified in the meeting as Miss Kelly) said the office recorded 1,184 transfer documents and 43 plats and surveys in the second quarter. She said year‑to‑date recordings include 90 plats and surveys and 2,245 transfer documents. Kelly also said the office recorded 1,184 transfer documents in the quarter and that year‑to‑date totals are higher than last year by roughly $68,000.
When asked whether the growth reflected a particular category, Kelly said the increase in activity was spread across recording types and that “we've seen a little bit of an uptick in foreclosures, but not much that I think it's something to be worried about.” She added that many recordings occur when properties are transferred or refinanced and that lower interest rates could prompt further refinancing activity.
Commissioners thanked the recorder for the report and asked about sources of the increase; the recorder attributed the rise to broader recording volume rather than a single category. No formal action was taken on the report.
