Town manager reports LAFCO talks on sewer capacity and launches community survey; vegetation‑removal contract to return in September

Town Manager Jason Ledbetter updated the Woodside Town Council on July 22 about ongoing interagency work on sewer capacity, records retention, a new communications survey and an upcoming vegetation‑removal contract.

Ledbetter said he met with San Mateo County’s Local Agency Formation Commission (LAFCO), the deputy town attorney, and the public works director on July 17 to discuss how the town’s sewer system and wastewater treatment arrangements relate to Regional Housing Needs Allocation (RHNA) requirements and how the system would handle additional connections if homeowners move from septic to sewer. LAFCO is arranging a follow‑up meeting with the town and county to clarify paths forward.

Ledbetter also reported internal work on a records‑retention policy and an eventual project to digitize paper files managed by the town clerk.

On communications outreach, staff launched a communitywide communication survey in early July. Ledbetter said an initial postcard mailing to 3,726 addresses produced about 100 responses in the first week; an email to 139 town staff and committee/commission/board members produced roughly 95 responses within two days. The town will continue outreach via Nextdoor, the e‑notification list and other channels.

Lastly, Ledbetter said staff will present a vegetation‑removal contract from the Woodside Fire Protection District for council consideration in September to address roadside fuel reduction, specifically along Woodside Drive and High Road—requests the town has received from homeowners and HOAs.
