Board members discussed the Citizens Police Review Board’s preliminary budget request for fiscal year 2026 and reviewed proposed brochure and rack-card designs.
Rose Meyer, the staff liaison, explained the city is now asking boards to specify line-item dollar amounts and justifications; she recommended submitting a request similar to the current year’s allocations. Members were told printing and miscellaneous-contractual categories provide flexibility for expense reallocation without immediate council action. Meyer noted the board had printed fewer materials last year because brochure printing was delayed by changes in state law.
The board discussed the rack-card design and agreed not to leave the back blank. Members considered adding a QR code linking to the board’s web page and complaint/appeal forms; staff confirmed the existing QR code design directs users to the board’s web page where “File a complaint” and “File an appeal” appear. The group agreed to defer finalizing back-page content and quantity decisions until the February meeting and asked members to send ideas to staff in advance.
Meyer noted that prior print runs discussed included 500 business cards and 250 rack cards (figures cited during discussion). She advised that the council is generally supportive of training-related funds and that budget adjustments could be requested later if necessary, but the easiest path is to request essentially the same amounts now during preliminary budget development.
Ending: The board reached consensus to request FY2026 funding similar to the current year and to revisit the rack-card back-page content at the February meeting; staff will solicit member suggestions by email and proceed with printing once design choices are finalized.
