The Maryville Redevelopment Commission approved purchasing nine police squad cars this year through Curry Motors at a reported cost of $438,002.12, council members said during the July 22 town meeting. Councilman Pettit, who reported from the commission, said the purchase will be funded from RDC allocations.
Pettit also reported that the commission authorized a supplemental agreement adding $60,000 to the Whitcomb Street engineering contract to extend work to the U.S. 30 right-of-way line. He said the commission and staff will coordinate funding with town staff.
Separately, Pettit briefed the council on the disposition process for a town-owned parcel at the northwest corner of 70 Third and Madison in Leona's ward. Town attorney Michael Griffin told council members that because only one proposal matched the property's valuation, the town must observe a 30-day waiting period before completing a sale or taking other action; the 30-day period began at the close of an earlier event referenced in the RDC process.
No council vote was required on the reports; Pettit said staff would monitor the 30-day period and proceed as allowed. Council members did not set additional policy directives at the meeting.
The RDC action to purchase vehicles and the contract supplement were presented to the council during committee reports; town staff will carry out procurement and contracting steps consistent with RDC and town procurement rules.
