Board accepts small tourism grant, considers JAG and forfeited-assets appropriations
Summary
Staff asked the board to accept a $2,500 tourism marketing grant and to authorize amending budgets to accept a $74,910 Department of Criminal Justice JAG grant; the board also moved to amend budgets for forfeited-asset balances for the sheriff and commonwealth's attorney.
On July 22 staff asked the board to accept a $2,500 grant from the destination marketing organization to fund tourism itineraries tied to fall Blue Ridge activities and the Blue Ridge Bobcats. Staff said the state requires a local match, which has already been budgeted, and the board approved accepting and appropriating the funds.
The board also was asked to authorize staff to set the Department of Criminal Justice (JAG) program grant amount at $74,910 and to amend the VAF budget accordingly; a motion to accept and appropriate that grant was made and approved.
Separately, staff noted annual review and amendment of leftover balances in the sheriff’s office and commonwealth attorney’s forfeited-assets accounts; the board approved amending and appropriating those amounts into the respective budgets so the offices may issue purchase orders and spend the funds.
