Parks and recreation staff told the Board of Supervisors on July 22 that the bathhouses at Retreat Lake and Campground are complete and that buildings and grounds staff finished exterior painting. The county reported heavy use on July 4, with staff turning some visitors away because lifeguard staffing limits capped attendance.
Construction at Hager Park is underway, with concrete sidewalks poured and paving preparation in progress. Parks staff said they will continue to update the board on construction milestones.
Board members also discussed the prospect of bringing back a fireworks display next year. A supervisor said he had secured offers of private land from two landowners where fireworks could be set off and asked county staff to begin planning and to consider a budget should the board wish to proceed. The board did not set a budget or approve fireworks at the July 22 meeting but asked staff to start planning.
