Bond projects near completion; Brazosport pool ahead of schedule and under budget, floor replacement planned at Lake Jackson Intermediate

Brazosport ISD’s director of maintenance and capital projects briefed the board on progress in the district’s 2019 bond program, showing multiple projects nearing completion and some targeted repairs scheduled.
Tyler, director of maintenance and capital projects, said the pool project is nearly complete: most concrete work is done, the pool shell has been filled to test watertightness, equipment rooms and filtration systems are installed, and site paving and sign work remain. "The project is almost complete ... we are well under budget on that project," Tyler said, adding the pool may finish about a month and a half ahead of schedule.
The board also heard that Lake Jackson Intermediate (LJI) has substantial floor damage. Maintenance said the recommendation is to remove and replace the entire floor and install an epoxy moisture/vapor barrier after removal to prevent recurrence; the campus has arranged alternate practice and class locations during work, and the district anticipates completing the floor replacement by October.
Other bond work noted included paving and stacking lane tie‑ins, equipment building roofing and restroom fit‑outs for the pool complex, completed turf and track work, and pending demolition and replacement of tennis courts. Trustees asked about additional scope items such as extending an awning at RASCO to speed student unloading; staff said such projects would be considered for future funding if necessary.
The bond update was presented as a report; no action was required. The administration said it will continue to track completion dates and costs and return with updates as needed.
