The City Parks and Recreation Board approved a permit Feb. 18 for the 2025 weekly farmers market to run from the first weekend in May through the last weekend in September at Cargillie. Staff said the market averaged about 1,000 attendees during a typical 9 a.m.–1 p.m. market last year and that vendor applications have been opened to returning vendors while the department is evaluating space for new vendors.
Board members discussed vendor vetting and quality control. Staff said they plan to conduct a farm tour in April to confirm production sources after prior years' incidents where non‑producers sold goods. Entertainment programming will be scheduled, with a musician confirmed for the first Saturday of each month and work underway to add a second weekend musician.
The permit was approved unanimously. No changes to fees or market days were proposed at the meeting; staff said they are "pushing our limits if we can get any new ones in" when discussing vendor capacity.
