Commission approves highway safety reimbursements and grant agreements including community corrections and records preservation

The Monongalia County Commission approved several grant-related items Wednesday, including reimbursements, a new application, and two awarded grant agreements. Colleen (Grants) presented the items. Commissioners approved reimbursements to the Governor’s Highway Safety Program: $1,317 for the Safe Communities program and $2,929.12 for impaired-driving reimbursements. The commission also approved submission of a $148,000 grant application to the Governor’s Highway Safety Program (application requires signatures of conditions and assurances). Grant awards presented and approved included a West Virginia Community Corrections grant for $197,893; the commission passed a resolution authorizing President Jeffrey L. Arnett to execute the grant agreement with the Division of Administrative Services, Justice and Community Services section and to accept federal standard conditions and assurances. The county clerk’s office was also awarded $21,872.70 from the Records Management and Preservation Board; the commission approved that grant agreement as presented. Why it matters: these awards and reimbursements support county public-safety and records functions and require the commission’s formal authorization to accept contractual terms and certify assurances. Next steps: signed grant agreements and administrative acceptance will proceed; the grants include standard federal or state conditions and reporting/certification requirements.
