Commission approves highway safety reimbursements, grant applications and community corrections award

Monongalia County commissioners on July 23 approved reimbursements and grant actions presented by the county grants staff and accepted two awarded grants.
Colleen, a grants staff member, presented reimbursements to be accepted from the Governor’s Highway Safety Program: $1,317 for Safe Communities and $2,929.12 for Impaired Driving. She also presented a grant application for a Governor’s Highway Safety Program grant with a requested amount of $148,000 and asked the commission to authorize the county to submit the application and sign required assurances.
The commission also accepted a Community Corrections grant award of $197,893 and passed a resolution authorizing President Jeffrey L. Arnett to enter into a contractual agreement with the state Division of Administrative Services, Justice and Community Services Section to administer the funds under the West Virginia Community Corrections Grant Program. In addition, the county clerk’s office was awarded $21,872.70 from the Records Management and Preservation Board.
All motions to approve reimbursements, the application submission, and the grant agreements carried by voice vote.
