Radita Smith, the Clerk of Court, requested a reorganization of her office that uses two current vacancies to reclassify remaining staff positions. A county staff presenter explained Smith proposed changing several deputy clerk positions into administrative assistant roles—resulting in four Administrative Assistant I and three Administrative Assistant II positions—and eliminating the vacant bookkeeper and office manager roles to free budget capacity for the reclassification.
County staff told the board the clerk's budget could accommodate the reclassifications because the office was vacating two positions. "There are funds available because she's given up the two positions," the presenter said. Commissioners asked clarifying questions about which lines represented new positions and which were the vacancies; staff clarified the vacancies were the bookkeeper and office manager positions.
A motion to approve the Clerk of Court reorganization was made by Commissioner Nick and seconded by Commissioner Kelly; the chair called the vote and the motion passed during the call meeting. Staff were authorized to process the personnel changes consistent with the approved reclassification plan.
