The resolution asks Congress to consult with states and stakeholders and to avoid indiscriminate reductions.
Representative McCormack asked whether the resolution addressed concerns about national debt and potential cuts; Baralt replied that the resolution seeks to ensure any proposed changes are targeted, evidence based and developed with states to “protect access.” Representative Jackson sought clarification about the federal share of Medicaid funding for traditional and expansion populations; Baralt stated the match for the traditional population is roughly 68% in Louisiana and 90% for the expansion population.
After floor discussion the House adopted the resolution. The clerk opened the machine for co‑authors and recorded 25 co‑authors in addition to the adoption vote; the resolution carries the chamber’s memorial request to Congress.
