Board committee recommends renewing student athletic insurance with Risk Services of Louisiana

Mr. Fernandez, an insurance committee staff member, recommended renewing the district's student athletic insurance with Risk Services of Louisiana for fiscal year 2025–26, saying the company is offering the same coverage at the same rate the district currently pays. "They're offering the same coverage at the same rate, so we are recommending that we just renew the policy with that company," Fernandez said.

Fernandez told the committee the policy covers students on field trips, extracurricular activities and provides school-time coverage. "So we it's a good deal. Price isn't going up. Same coverage. So we're recommending renewable," he said.

A motion was made to send the recommendation to the full board for approval; the committee approved the referral 9-0. No changes to coverage or price were adopted at committee; the full board will consider final approval.
