During superintendent’s notes the administration said the millage must be renewed this fall and that the board will make a formal announcement at a regular meeting and follow required advertising and administrative steps. The superintendent clarified that the proposal is a renewal of an existing millage, not a new tax: “It is a renewal. It's a 10 year renewal, of the 5.62 mills that we set aside for the maintenance and repair of the buildings,” the superintendent said.
Officials told the board the millage proceeds are the source of funding for facility maintenance projects approved by the board, including audio visual and building repairs discussed at the meeting. The administration said it will follow the statutory steps required to place the renewal on the November ballot.
